Josephine Carubia, Ph.D. founded Metaphorical Ink: Results Through Writing in 2007 to offer creative services based on her expertise in publishing and academic leadership. She spent ten years in New York City as an editor who negotiated contracts, acquired and developed new manuscripts, and managed production budgets as well as advertising and marketing campaigns for adult non-fiction books. Ruth Handler, co-founder of Mattel and creator of the Barbie Doll, and Mary Higgins Clark, were among authors she worked with in person. Carubia also worked as an independent contractor in the legal industry for Speer Software, Inc. with appointments in New York, Dallas, Washington D.C., and Miami. She has held tenure in two educational institutions and most recently served as Chief Academic Liaison Officer for the Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She left Penn State in June 2006 after ten years of service to develop Metaphorical Ink. Carubia is an accomplished writer with articles and presentations to a wide variety of audiences. She was awarded an NEH Fellowship at Tufts University, a Penn State Administrative Fellowship in 2002-2003, and an Achieving Woman Award from the Penn State Commission for W
omen in 2006. She holds a Ph.D. from Fordham University and has completed the Bard College Institute for Writing and Thinking and the Harvard University Institute for Management and Leadership in Education (MLE).
